Hi!
Very new to this hobby and have experienced only a few deaths. My 65 gallon tank has 2 Marble Angels, one chinese algae eater, six serpea tetra (can be mean), four cherry barbs, two new dwarf gourami, two black mollies that I rarely see, and soon to have 3 hatchets that are in a small tank now. Are these compatable? The fish store says yes, but there is a lot of chasing and nipping. Is this too many or too few fish? PH is neutral, temp is 79, have a bio filter, live plants. Also, don't have a clue on what is too much or too little food. When I do a water / vacumn change, there is very litlle debris, but the fish are alsways hungry.

Thanks - hope my questions are not too basic.

Serpae Tetras are somewhat like Tiger Barbs in that they will chase and nip at any slower fish. You may have more trouble when you put in the 3 Hatchets. And Mollies are a brackish water fish and need quite a bit of salt added to the water. The others do not. Everything else you are doing seems fine. It's better to underfeed than overfeed.

Tetras are much more aggresive than mollies and gouramis. And if you have a big group of them and only a couple poor little mollies you could have problems. I love mollies they are peaceful and friendly, Tetras on the other hand are not as much. Gouramis are the same as mollies just harder to care for. As for the Chinease algae eater. Make sure that is what it is. There is a difference between the Siamese and Chinese. I always get confused between the two. One has aggresive tendancies (the one I have). It's the one w/o the dark strip down it if that helps. Don't know a thing about angel fish can't help you there. Hope that helped. :)
