compatability

I dont see why not. It really depends on the size of the tank and if the pair of rams is a breeding pair. As long the the tank is ok sized it should work fine as paradise fish should stay on the surface will the rams will be more bottom and middle dwellers.

I agree. I think it would be ok given decent conditions.

What would be an ok size for that kind of fish configuration?

I have a 2 Bolivian Rams (not a German but close enough) and 2 male Paradise Fish (one of each in 2 20G tanks) and they get on great. As above the Paradise stay towards the top and the Bolivian stays at the bottom. When they do encounter eachother there is a lot of hovering, staring and posturing but they don't fight.

IMO these 2 fish shouldn't be kept together in anything smaller than a 15G.

Just to insert a word of caution, I have a dwarf gourami and a blue ram together in a 55g and they are fighting quite a bit. The Dwarf gourami have much the same temperment as the paradise fish, so I can imagine there might be problems. Not all rams will stay on the bottom, and not all labrynth fish will stay at the top.

is it just the rams that you have in your tank? if not what other fish do you have with your rams, i only say this as my aradise fish mauled two of my fish to death, and one of them was of an equal size to the paradise fish. and i would have to agree with sarcare.
