Please help in this query.

Would Fancy goldfish like Black Moors, Redcaps go with Betta and Angelfish?

I have a 30G setup since last 6 months with 1 Black Moor, One RedCap, 2 Angel and 8 Blue Danios. I put in two small black moors and one betta today.

I just felt that the angel are targetting one of the small moors and try to nip its fins. Is it normal??? The earlier moor is big and maybe the angel didnt take it on. Now the new ones are real small ones and so maybe the angel is trying to be the boss.

Please lemme know so I can segregate if necessary.

I am not an expert, by any means, but I have two full grown angels. I had to seperate them to different tanks because of the fighting. My angels still always "boss" everyone around in my tanks.

I have tried to put tetras, fancy goldfish and danios into my tanks and every single time I have had to re-locate the fish. I think the only way you can get away with having these fish with angels is if you have a bigger tank or a bigger group of them.

I would just keep a close eye on your new fish. If it gets too bad, remove the moors. The angel might just pick on them for a few days and then leave them alone.

Thats just my 2 cents.

The goldfish and the angels/danios/betta have different needs. The goldfish are cold water fish, and the rest are tropical and need higher temps (including the betta). I believe the angels are likely to continue their harrassment of the goldfish, who are slow targets. The betta too may also be at risk. I also believe you have some overstocking issues with all those fish in a 30g tank. The moors need a larger tank just my themselves, much less the angels and the other fish. I believe you should separate the goldfish and the tropicals, if you can. There are a lot of great sites on the internet, including this one, to research your fish. Good luck!

Simple answer NO!

reasons
1) Angels Tropical Goldfish Coldwater
2) Goldfish get to big for a 30G
3) 2 Angels are to big for a 30G - one will be ok
3) Betta and angel might/will fight
4) danios very active fish that will nip at the fins of betta and angels causing great stress

i would remove all goldfish and 1 angel and 1 betta

The temp has been set at 28degree C i.e. 82.4 Degree F.

I will take all your suggestions....Will definitely go for a bigger tank soon.

Although I would like to put in my 2 cent. I have the angels and the others since six months.. no issue with them and the danios so far.. only today this thing happened when i put in the new fish..Actually the older moor is about 3 inches long and the new ones are small maybe 1 inch... Maybe that is why the angel is trying to go after it...just trying to show the new ones who is boss...hehe

Anyway will monitor the fish for a couple of days and do the needful as suggested by you all

I have to concur with the fact that you are mixing tropical with coldwater.

angels are cichlids and that being said can become aggressive..especially when they are breeding.

also you may be having some territorial behavior..you were fine with your stocking levels until you added the new fish..the angels will require 10 gallons per fish(20 gallon tank is considered the minimum size for angels) that leaves 10 gallons for the other fish.

I am guessing that these angels were in the tank long enough to create their territory.

I have danios in a tank with several angels..the danios are active but pretty much leave the angels alone..

The goldfish need 15-20 gallons each for themselves. You have 4 goldfish in a 30 gallon tank and you need at least an 80 gallon for those four goldfish.

Yes, even when they are small you need a big tank. When a goldfish is kept in a tank that is too small for its adult size it will stunt -- not grow properly -- and thus not live the 20+ years it can live nor reach it's adult size of 6-10", depending on the type.

Point taken....

Will try and get that big tank as early as possible..

Till then will try and segregate the new fish.

I have had several angels with other fish and the trouble I have is the angels get picked on. I have never had an aggressive angel. They seem shy, they are skittish if fast movements or noise is around the tank, they dart around hiding, and their long fins can get picked on by other fish. Angels are not particularly good swimmers either, they like still water, not too much current, or bubbles. I guess it all depends on the fish.
Goldish, especially the fancy ones are slow moving and long flowing fins. Many other fish will pick on them. If you want to keep goldfish just keep them at room temp. 80 is too hot for them- it may work for awhile but sooner or later it will result in disease.
A 30 gallon is too small for that many fish.
You might set up an outdoor yard pond for the goldfish and just keep the angels inside.
