I've never had any experience with the brasiliensis, but jewels can get nasty. What kind of jewel? The lifalili seem to be pretty mellow, but you're more than likely to find the guttatus, which I would be hesitant to put with severums unless the tank is large. You can play around with this though. I've heard and seem some jewels that are as calm as lambs. If you do put them together, keep a divider or spare tank by just in case. And I'd make sure the severums are at least 1.5 X bigger.
Its all about the size fo the tank,when they breed(if you have pairs) and they will! I have brasilenses and juvels,both be very agressive when breeding,the juvel are calm when not breed,but when they do, you must have a big tank if you have company in the tank,in agressive order 1.juvels 2. brasilensis(can be no 1 if they are big) 3. severum
