Compatibily Chart (Worth stickying?)

going by the chart, shouldn't a betta v/s betta be a definite N, instead of a C ???

Although I have never tried it, I have seen some betta sites that discuss housing male bettas together in a larger, peaceful community tank set up that is very well planted. Seems risky, but apparantly can be done. Maybe the code should be EC for Extreme Caution! :D

i don't believe you can categorize or chart what fish are compatible. Its something that can't be set in stone. Incompatible fish may or may not be able to live together, its quite variable.
I agree with Spartan here. I'ev broken the rules on the chart and I've had fish break the rules on that chart. Now, if we could teach fish to read that chart...

You can't even keep females and males together for any longer than it takes them to spawn...really.

Now I just know there are exceptions out there as with anything else...but in general it just doesn't work out very often...usually one will make mince meat out of the other..even in a larger heavily planted tank.

Females can be housed together...but not always and even they take bites out of each other on occasion. I have 4 females in a 10 gallon with lots of plantings and log type decorations...they still nip each other's fins up from time to time. I don't even think about putting my yellow female in with them..I like her fins nice and tidy thank you...she's a beaut ! ;)

That compatability chart from LiveAquaria.com needs some graph lines, it's wicked hard to follow the columns.

On their website a moving "cross hair" is superimposed with the intersection point that follows your cursor. Works pretty well.
