Is there a table available that tells you which tropical fish are compatible with each other? I want to set up a live breeders tank so I dont want any aggressive fish or someone who loves eating babies. The fish in the tank don't all have to be live breeders.

:welcome: to AC!

What size is the tank? Each fish is unique so you don't often expect how they will behave and some have the tendency to behave very differently contrary to what is often written in books. Experience will vary however there are several fish that can work together depending on the size of the tank, space, hiding places, etc.:)

The tank is 48x19x15inches. I've just redone it with plants as I had a large goldfish in it which ate everything including my small fish I suspect so its still looking a bit bare but I am working on it. There are several large rocks in it. I currently have a large kissing gourami which I will have to remove, a few guppies, swords, mollies and 2 algae eaters.

Once you get your gourami out of the 60, you should be ok if you have enough plants and such for the fry to hide in. There is almost no such thing as a fish that will not eat fry except maybe cories. I have never seen a cory eat a baby fish but I know they will eat frozen, once live, food so I'm not even sure about them.
The point is simple, with enough cover, your live bearers will multiply their numbers but won't breed totally out of control. I'm sure you already know that the swords, mollies and guppies are all live bearers. Depending on which algae eaters you have, they may or may not be safe. I know plecostomus are not but I think otocinclus might be safe. I have never seen them eat anything but algae, algae wafers or flake fish food.

Do you have pictures of these algae eaters? An ID may help you prepare in case that is a Chinese Algae Eater which will eventually become nasty as they mature. Your guppies, swordtails and mollies are fine. You could try adding some rasboras, tetras, small loaches, plecos and cories of course. Avoid clown loaches as these generally will outgrow your tank. As for plecos, research for species you like before you buy them. Some can grow far too big for your tank. Look into the Ancistrus, Sturisoma, Panaque maccus and some Hypancistrus.

You can get a good compatablity chart at liveaquria.com

Also, elmersaquarium.com has about a dozen "Community Tank Suggestion" lists with links to each of the fish recomended.
