Ok i looked on the net found tht cong tetras get to be about 3-4 inches and can get along with bettas. well since fish are all different i wanted to know if anyone had any experiance with them being nippy? will they atk my betta? i have a 25 gallon slightly planted(still tryin to get it to heavily planted), it's been up and runnin for about 8 mths now and only has one betta and a bunch of red ramshorn, common pond snails, and MTS.

i have a chance to get 5 congo tetras for 4 buck each, is this a good deal? they are al 2.5 inch now and will be housed in a 10 gallon, used to quaritine plants. last question.....should i expect a mini cycle in the quaritine tank, and in my 25gl when i intoduce them? any advice or experiance shared is welcomed.

also wht would be the best method of introducing them to the larger tank?

I have congos with zebra danios and a pair of golden wonder killis. They never interact with the other fish, though they do a fair bit of fin flaring and racing around the tank among themselves.

20 years ago I kept congos with het raspboras, lace gouramis and kribs and had signs of fin nipping or harrasment.

They are wonderful fish.

Good price, I paid over $8 for mine at about the same size.

well this post is pointles now, because the person i was buyin from thought it would be good business to sale em to someone else even though i was promised them. o well for now ill just stick with my betta, whose name is Cheese, my GF calls him Formage.

I would agree that going for a 50+ gallon is better suited for a school of congos. I have a school of 18 right now in my 120 gallon along with other fish. They used to be in a 75 gallon on their own but I decided to consolodate two tanks into one so I've got a 120 to merge a 75 and a 38 together :)

Anyway the congos are 2.5" to 4" in length and from what I've seen they can even hit 5" so more tank space the better. They are very peaceful fish. Never bother anything.

thx for the reply guys, i dont really hav to wrry about it though, they were sold already. some one offered her more money.
