Connecting Driftwood - DIY & concerns

How about acrylic rod (dowel)? Craft store item, maybe.

Square screwdriver. "Robertson" head. I don't know why the States does not use these screws, they are the best. You can put them on the driver and at almost any angle they don't fall off. It is also very hard to strip the heads. Maybe they are not used because they are a Canadian invention. But they are far superior to any other screw heads available. Believe me, I know. I put a lot of screws in, in my trade. But given you don't have a screwdriver that fits, I would go with the stainless rod and epoxy.

if you can't find ss rod or screws,,,why not try plastic,,,1/2 pvc???,,,,acrylic rod,,,,those plastic bolts that hold your toilet seat on...just drill a tight hole

Possibly even an emptied out Bic ink pen? Cut to the right length and with the right size hole it should be plenty sturdy enough. You probably have one or two hiding in your junk drawer. If not, they are cheap.

Sorry to double post but just thought of something I failed to mention above.

I was referring to the clear type of Bic. Once it is together, if there is a gap between the 2 pieces, the pen casing should be nearly transparent I would think.
