Hey guys,
I've been looking at an 80 gallon tank and was wondering what one should consider when making such a sizeable purchase.

I've helped my mom keep a 30 gallon pretty much all my life and recently hit it up with a 20 gallon but it's kind of smaaaaaall :/

anyways,
to my understanding one gallon weighs ten pounds. With substrate and driftwood i'd be approaching half a ton in weight. That is one of the things i've been considering. Is that a problem? I live on the second floor of a condo. I suppose I should call them and make sure it's peachy keen?

The tank comes with a stand so i'm not worried about finding something to put it on... it's about 47 inches long.

I want to get a Jebo hood with four 55 watt compact lights. Would that be considered enough light to keep plants with some colour? I want to make it a planted tank after all :D

The tank also comes with a 404 Fluval filtration system. It's rated at 360Gallons an hour(?).

I haven't decided what i'd like to keep in it but i'm thinking a species tank of Rainbows ... I've read from Roan that they like high current so what kind of a powerhead would be adequate?

Anyways,
i'm just wondering if theres anything I should know when making this purchase. :o

I don't have the height. I was given it but I forgot it on my way home. When we were fitting the Jebo hood I noticed that the 60 gallon and the 80 gallon were the same length though o.O

hey i thought that a gallon was around 8 pounds not 10 but as long as u dont put it on the second story of a house u should be good so ur lookin at around 650 lbs give or take

No way, I'd estimate at 10 lbs per gallon plus gravel and decor, plus the stand and equipment we're really looking at about 1000 lbs....Should be okay but check with the landlord, maintainence guy and read your lease just in case....Not sure if home/renter's insurance covers that kind of accident...

What else should I consider?

Will I have a lot of problems with my 404 fluval?
i've been reading mixed reviews :/

It sounds like your looking at the same tank that I have: It's a curved glass Jebo tank. I live in an Apartment and on the second floor. My wife was really worried about the weight so I called the apt office to see if they have weight restrictions and they said no. So far so good!! Here is what the tank looks like without water.

With water and plants:

That's a very nice tank but no... It's a biosystem hagen tank ... It is supposed to come with a different hood but i was like two 40 watts for an 80 gallon? You got to be kidding so they let me upgrade the hood to a jebo with no cost >>;

It's going to be an open tank, by the way. The jebo hood is just the light cover.
