Considering an 80 gallon ...

That's a very nice tank but no... It's a biosystem hagen tank ... It is supposed to come with a different hood but i was like two 40 watts for an 80 gallon? You got to be kidding so they let me upgrade the hood to a jebo with no cost >>;

It's going to be an open tank, by the way. The jebo hood is just the light cover.
Ah I see!! I like your plans. I have 4 65w CF's in my hood, made by Jebo Odyessea. So far so good!! :thm:

Do you think it'll be enough wattage for some high light plants? >.> I want plants with red in them =(

It's four 55 watt compact lightings so i guess thats almost 3watts per gallon? does the compact lighting make it even more effective?

Open tanks and rainbowfish don't mix. They can and will jump. You'll need a cover if you want them to stay in the tank.

Thanks for the heads up. We've had our little scuffles but as always you provide good information <3 ...

A lid, then ... Hmm -- Could I get sliding glass from a glass cutter?

What about the powerhead? What's some good current for rainbows?

Yep CF are more effective!!! 3 watts per gallon is pretty good, but some of the high light plants need a little more depending on the plants. You should be pretty good with what you have though. There are "red" plants out there that will work with what you have!!

also will i have problems with those lightings if i opt out of the rainbow fish and get myself some schools with cardinals?

I hear cardinals like it pretty soft ...

Hey, so long as there is mutual respect, it's all good ;)

Probably. I use AGA Versa Tops on mine, so I really don't know.

Depends on the age of the bows. The younger ones like current, the older ones not so much -- they're too interested in spawning. I actually tone down the current in my Eheim 2026s in all my tanks, juvie and adult. Make sure they have lots of spots where they can go to get out of the current if they want to.

Don't go out of your way to put current in the tank. Just make sure your spraybar is in a good line of open water. They'll find it okay.

You're going to need CO2 with that for sure. Yes, reconsider the bows. They are very O2 intensive and the reds will want a lot of light. I would never push bows over 25ppm and even that's borderline.

Have you got good literature on the subject? I'm just worried that, perhaps, I'm not ready to take on a higher needing fish. I've been really good wiht my tanks but it's always simple stuff like cardinals, and guppies and the norm like that.
