Constipated Oto?

Ok. 3-4 weeks ago i had 2 otocincluses in my tank. There was plenty of algae (brown) and they both ate a ton of it. Then one day one of my otos was severly bulging and i assumed it was full of eggs. Well it was large for about a week and then it just floated up to the top and it was dead. The other oto was fine, eating algae too (green now!) but just last night it too started to bulge. Was my first one constipated from lack of variety in its diet? is that whats happening to this one too? all the other fish are fine. How do i help it? i dont want to lose another fish... thanks

prob not eggs...... try some garlic get a qt tank.... do you feed it anything?

I've noticed the same thing in mine too. They've been doing fine for the past few months, but now they are starting to croak. Their life expectancy seems to be quite short. I'm wondering what their life length is in the wild.

lot of problems with how they are caught too..... they are poisoned to stop them and collect them.

i put many pieces of canned peas in the tank last night.. its abdomen seems to be shrinking! i hope that was all that was wrong with it! ill be sure to vary its diet from now on.
