Contaminated Malaysian Driftwood

the risk of spreading this is very high..often the best measure is to eliminate the stock, sterilize the equiptment and start over.

I would soak the wood in a bleach solution for some time. then soak in clean water. chlorine is actually not very stable and will dissipate over time.

:iagree: Soak that wood thoroughly for a while in the bleach solution. It certainly wouldn't hurt after that to boil it if you could. Rinse well repeatedly in dechlor, then I'd let it dry out thouroughly before I'd use it again. Better to be overcautious and not in a hurry than go through this again.

I agree....treat in strong warm bleach water for 1-2 days......then boil for a few hours...and allow a complete dryout.

The issues are to severe with it to allow any chnace of spreading. The loss of stock is necessary.

I agree that the bleach soaking for a couple of days then boil the heck out of it and let it dry out. I'd even be tempted to boil again after the dryout. Thats probably overkill--but can't be too careful with this stuff. Good luck!
