I have one of those "hang on back" skimmers, and I was wondering if I could mod it to go inside my 20L sump.. Not really a necessity, but it would free up some space...

Have you considered just hanging it off the sump? Otherwise, you could easily make an acrylic (or buy one) container that is fastened down that holds the skimmer so that parts that must stay dry can still remain that way. What kind of skimmer is it?

It's an Aquarium Systems skimmer, and it's the type that hangs off the tank. The thing is, I don't really like having it off the back of the sump. I don't see any parts that would need to remain dry, unless there's something I'm missing. If I reduced the plumbing that runs from the intake to the base of the skimmer, I could place the whole thing inside the sump..

It "works"..
I just have to clean it quite a bit.. Every couple of days, the filter gets fouled up and slows the flow rate. I just figured if I remove the filter and shorten the distance the powerhead has to push, it might make it a little more efficient..

Yeah, the conversion doesn't matter now..
I was going to put it in the 20L I bought to replace my 10 gallon sump, but I'm too stupid to measure clearances first. There's NO physical way to get the 20 under my 90 without major emptying of the main tank..

Anyone have 45 buckets??

I'll be returning the 20 gallon tank tomorrow
