converting to CF

hey,
does anyone know if there is any way to convert a 2 pin standard fluorescent fixture into one of the 4 pin CF fixtures without buying a whole new hood?

There are retrofit kits for exactly what you're trying to do. Many people seem to like www.ahsupply.com for lights, I don't have any personal experience with them, though.

i have seen the ah site, but i was kind of hoping there was a cheaper way... their stuff looks very high quality and relatively simple to assemble, but I don't really need all the reflectors and all that if i can just buy some kind of adapter plug or something for much cheaper... maybe that isn't possible, i don't know, i have really no experience with electrical DIY stuff. thanks for responding though, i really appreciate it

ah stuff is really good and its not too expensive, you can always get used lights, i just got a cf setup for my saltwater 40 gallon for only 50 bucks. well free because i traded an old water pump instead of paying the $50.

make sure the hood your trying to change it into is sturdy because those lights get hot.
