I recently got these two hybrids from my lfs. They used to be one of the owner's fish, but the tank they were in crashed and he had to sell them as he decided not to set up the tank again. He did point out to me that they were crosses. I was wondering how large they may get? Right now at a year old they are 1.5 inch. I believe they are both females.

Convict X BP is often referred to as a Jellybean Cichlid. 5-6" is the usual maximum stated size for them.

No prob. Be warned, though, JBC is often applied to standard Blood Parrots that have been dyed as well...I'd make sure to write it as Jellybean Cichlid (Convict X BP) until one of the two definitions of JBC gains more acceptance than the other.

My con/Bp crosses got to about 6" with the biggest being 8", if they are what are reffered to as jellybean parrots (really just balloon pink cons) then they get to about 5".

Here are a few of my Bp/Pink con mixes.

Well, here's an update on the fish.

My male convict fell in love with the more agressive of the jelly bean cichlids and now they are paired off with a batch of eggs in a pot. They are both guarding and fanning the eggs. Pretty interesting because the female is way smaller than the male and is able to boss the male around where as when I had a female convict that was the male's size, he was quite agressive towards her when there were eggs. Anyway it will be intersting to see what the fry look like. The female looks like it is a bp crossed with a pink convict. The male is a zebra convict. And don't worry, the fry are not for sale. They will go to feeding my carnivores.
