Convict blood parrots: the opposite of deformed

Hey, i've noticed that BPs are being bread with convicts, and look almost the same as BPs, but eat and swim as fast and healthily as Cons.

What do you think about this? have you seen any at your LFS? do you know what size they get?

They are commonly referred to as jelly bean parrots... but at many LFS's the dyed BP's are also referred to as jelly beans, so it can be confusing.

They will grow to about 6 inches, maybe a tad less.

For the record, I keep 2 BP's they were my first cichlids, before I was experienced enough to consider the ethical ramifications of hybrid fish. I've had them for about 4 years now, and they are nearly 7 inches long. Mine have absolutely no trouble swimming or eating. They actually are greedy pigs, and get more food than the con that lives with them, lol! IME, that is a myth for the most part. True, most cannot close their mouths, but I've yet to see a BP that actually had trouble eating.

I have a little one (3-4 in) that has a hard time eating. Its really sad, he'll keep ramming into the food and when it finally breaks, some other fish usually gets it. The only thing he'll really eat is Mysis... which is funny because he'll go to the end of the baster and just keep eating.
