i had a small male convict getting beat up in one tank so i put him in another on the advice of someone i put a female in with him she was bigger and at first terriozed him now hes acting funny and at times swiming next to her is this courtship? :coffee:

convict courtship will mostlikely happen in a tank with just a male and female, they are the "rabbits" of the fish world, you cant stop it. females will get a orange spot on their stomach and the males fins will show orange as well, the male will show off to the female by flailing in front of her like you said, and flaring their gills at one another, they will eventually stirr the whole tank up move the grave around pick a sppot and thats when u will see the genital palpilae(sp?). if it is the first time the parents will most likely eat thier eggs, it takes them a while to get it right
