I have a male convict that is about 1.5 inches and my friend has a female that is a little over 2 inches and i was wondering if they would breed or if she would just bully him. If anyone has any input it would be very appreciated.

I have two convicts in my 30 gal long right now. I think they are both males because they are not breeding and one just chases the other one around all the time. There colors are not as vibrant as ones i have seen at the store and on the net. Thats why i dont know if they are both males but i see NO signs of red on them at all. they are both about 1.5-2inches and i want to introduce that female who is a little over 2 inches. How should i do it? should i get rid of the one who is getting bullied before i put the female in, or should i wait and and see which one mates with her. I think the dominant one will mate but not sure.

they females have a red belly and the males do not

i think it would probably be better for you to take one of the males out and then add the female, just watch for 2 much aggresion, i say 2 much because when i did this in my tank (exactly the same except i introduced a 2 inch male to a 1 1/2 inch female, and moved my other con to another tank) there was alot of chasing around for a couple days nothing to bad in the way of biting or fin niping and now i have a nice batch of about 100 fry
