Convict Breeding Tank

I have a breeding pair of convict cichlids in my 75 gallon tank along with other fish. I was wondering if i could put the pair in a 10 gallon tank with a sponge filter until they had babies then put them back in the 75 gallon.

How, big/old are they? mine are juvies and will be Ok in the 10 for a bit. I had no problem with my HOB topfin 10. Not a single baby lost to the filter. If they are smallish, you might even leave them in with the fry. its so cool how pissed they get at you just for getting too close.

the female is rather small but the male is too large to leave in there for a long period of time.
