Hello everyone!

I did have a three year old Convict Cichlid, but unfortunately he died. I'm trying to figure out what happened to him and thought you guys could help. He was very, very bloated (it almost looked as if he would explode) and was having a lot of trouble keeping himself strait. The water quality is good and no fish were ever picking on him.

Please help!!!

Thanks for responding corykid!

Yes, he was always trying to swim downward. A little bit before he died, he was upside down and on his side.

I agree with you that Cories are the best fish ever!!!

ya if it was a swim bladder problem which i am sure it was and it ever happens again raise the temp (80 F) and add aquarium salt to i think it was 5 gm per litre which is like 0.5 % correct me if i am wrong i had read about that a long time ago

Hey guys,

The scales did look a little raised. I have a 54 gallon semi-aggressive tank with some other tank mates which are: Angelfish, Firemouths, Upside-Downers, Cories, and a couple of odd balls. I know my tank is a little to full, so two Angelfish and a Convict are going to the petstore soon. I have a Aqua Clear 70 filter and a very large air stone.

we need to know how many corydoras, upside down catfish, firemouths, angelfish, and how maynoddball fish and what they are so we can see if there are any huge stocking problems that wouldve killed the convict (besides the point that your tank loks OS already, especially if you had two convicts in there AND all of those other fish)
