Convict death

Hi jm1212,

I'm pretty sure that over crowding is not an issue in his death. But it could have been, thats why I'm returning some fish to local petstore, just incase.

Hello jm1212,

I have two Upside-Downers, nine Cories, two Firemouths, one Chinese Algae Eater, two Angelfish, and two Convicts.

ok your tank is a bit over stocked, and you still havent told me what oddballs you have, for they are probably putting your tank in the OS range. some fish are stressed out when there are more fish in the tank, and when a convict is defending its territory from 9 corydors, 2 angles, 2 fire mouths, another convict, and some oddballs, then that can be very stressful for the fish, leaving it open to diseases like dropsy.

if you tell me what oddballs you have, then i can tell you if you need to take any fish back and which ones.

Hi jm1212,

The only other fish I have not mentioned is a 2 inch Three-Spot Gourami. I know it sounds weird, but the only real fighting going on in my tank is between the Gourami and my Firemouths. Also my two pairs of breeding Angelfish are fighting a little, thats why a pair are going to the petstore. My two Convicts that are left are not that terriotorial and not aggressive at all, which is kinda weird for Convicts.

im not sure but you still havent told me about the "oddballs" in your tank, and still the three spot would only be one.
we need to know which oddballs because some get to be over 3 feet long, and they are called oddballs because they do not have many other elatives in the aquarium trade

Hello jm1212,

I never knew oddballs were a species of fish. When I said oddballs, I meant my Three-Spot Gourami and Chinese Algea Eater, because I only had one of each.

i didnt mean that oddballs were a species, i meant that many species are grouped under there because they do not have any related fish in the hobby. three spots are not oddballs, for they can be grouped with other gouramis, and neither are CAEs, which can be grouped with other cyprinds(sp.)

and oddball example would be the african butterfly fish, which is a freshwater fish that hangs around the surface and eats only from the surface, has powerful pectoral fins that allow it to jump high, and it does not have any other fish related to it it can be grouped with, so people often put it under the "oddball" category
