Ok, so i have a new tank which is 55 gallons, I have one red devil, one carpinte, a parrot, and two convicts, the tank looks empty now, but i know that i will probably be overcrowded when they grow a little.... Sooooo, i have a 40 gallon thats in the process of being set up.... My convicts, decided to breed, and i have eggs on the side of the glass on the left corner of the tank, They were just layed because i have only recently just seen them. What should i do, set up a divider, or is there a way to remove the eggs...HELP!!!

Just reach down in there and suck the eggs up with a siphon tube after scrapin them off the glass.

The devil, carpinte WILL NOT WORK in either of those tanks, too large, too aggressive. Min of a 75 for one devil or one carpinte.

Yes, i know that the devil and carpinte will be too big for the 55 once they get larger, but i plan on buying a much larger tank in the future...soooo this scraping and siphoning will not hurt the tank, how would an eye dropper work???

how long will it take for the fry to hatch?

an eye dropper might work, siphon tube would be much quicker. If its a glass tank it won't scratch it, if its acrylic just use some paper towel to wipe them off.

48-60hrs for the eggs to hatch and become wigglers.

i used a syringe and removed most of them and put them in the little container that you put on the side.... i also put some grass from the tank inside...the mother was biting me the whole entire time

I might have to get rid of the devil and carpinte and start a community tank of sorts.... i also have friends who may want some fry and i have a 40 gallon so its all good!

I would have just left them in there. Only reason I would think that is because there is a tank at my lfs that is chock full of oscars, plecos, and a couple of 4/5 in green terrors. A pair of convicts laid eggs in it, and managed to bring about 50 fry to free swimming stage and keep them from getting eaten for almost two weeks. Amazingly devoted parents.

how many convicts would i be able to keep in my 55 gallon?
