Hi! I have a 90 gal reef and planning to upgrade to a 210 gal. I like small and medium sized fishes as weel as crustaceans. I am interested in keeping a trio of jawfish or convict blenny / engineer goby. I am hesitating and would like the opinion and most of all experiences of other people regarding compatibility.

1-Would these species represent a threath to small crustaceans (small sexy shrimps, cleaner shrimps, small porcelain crabs, etc.) and to clown goby (gobiodon histrio and citrinis: 1&1/2”)?
2-Is it really a problem to keep them with LPS corals and clams sitting on the DSB?
3-Does their digging disturb DSB’s NNR methodology?

Thanks a lot for your input !!!

1. I had the convict gobies, and they were enver a bother to any of my other fish, but they can be territorial against each other.
2. Yes. They will constantly dig, covering anything close to or on the sand bed, buriying rock, and even collapsing rock work. There are work arounds, but they aren't always fun.
3. Yes, it does. If you can put a DSB in a sump where it's protected from them, that would be best. Otherwise, the digging will affect all levels of sand in the tank, and the anaerobic areas won't develop. They will dig clear to the glass, and the edges of the tank away from the rock work will be the only places left undisturbed.

They are cool fish, but IMO, best for a species only setup/
