should we remove them? i was thinking maybe we should put them in our 15 g. if so is there any special way we should acclimate them and prepare the tank/filter so they dont get sucked up into it?
I don't know too much about convicts..but most fry are fragile and require a sponge filter..which is what i use for my fry. (just some advice)
And a 15 gallon is fine! How many fry are there (aproximentaly)?
However, as they grow you are going to have to probably upgrade the tank so they have more room to grow even though they may seem small, the bigger the tank, the easier it is for them to grow!
Also, be sure to feed them good food! A variety is best!
yes, the tank is already established. but nevermind that idea, the male just bit me about 8 times. he swam up to me and just kept pecking lol. ill never try that again
If you have a tank with algae overgrowth they will feed on that. I just left them with the parents as well no problems to speak of. As you found it is hard to remove them though. The parents are truley fearless. my 2 1 inchers used to beat up on my 7" green terror. That was after I had removed all the males and kept the most attractive females. They will still form pairs and act as though they are breeding even if males are not present. It was cool the first time they breed. But it becomes bothersome because they will start breeding again in about 2 weeks. They are like the gerbils of the aquarium. Soon you will be trying to figure out how to get them to stop breeding LOL! Someone once said to me he could breed convicts in a boot with water in it! I have my doubts but see how it could be possible.
