Ok, I have 2 female and one male convicts in my 50g with about 300-400 fry...

Is it ok to feed some of the fry to my German Blue Rams?

it would probably be allright, but the problem I have found with convicts as feeders is that they are hard to catch and good at hiding, and I dont think a ram could catch them

if you could morale condone the slaughter of hundreds of children, then yes it would be fine.

Seriously though, I wouldn't rely on feeders as any part of their diet, except for rare instances when you want to be entertained. If you want to get rid of fry, then sell them off for next to nothing...

Selling convict fry for next to nothing...sounds like feeders to me.

OP, if the fry are small enough I'm sure the rams would eat them if they can catch them. I'll keep livebearers in tanks with fish such as rams just so the rams can pick off the fry. Now it shouldn't be their main diet, make sure you feed a well balanced pellet or flake.

I agree with Lab, I have some Oscars that would love to eat them..

im setting up a 25 gallon convict tank for feeders...and i love there personality,I also breed guppies as feeders.

All my fish in my main tank LOVE convicts as dinner! Only I grow them out so they get a worthwhile meal... Convicts are a great healthy food as they will be disease free(if you keep disease free tanks) and you can feed them healthy so when eaten, they will be healthy for your other fish. So much better than comets. But ya, your rams might have some problem catching them. My fish only catch them because I throw in 50 at a time at sub adult size so by the chances of probability, they eat lol.

BTW, whomever thinks it's unethical to feed live foods, go to your PETA meeting and leave us naturalists alone. Convicts are eaten ALL THE TIME in nature.
