Convict fry as feeder fish..

I use to breed convicts for feeders but after a while my fish got sick of eating them. Plus they're such good hiders that one or two always evade getting eaten and end up becoming a resident of the tank once they've grown too large.

I breed cons just to have healthy feeders for my fish, and you cant beat the price..If you put enough fry in,they will catch them. If not,i have froze baby cons and fed like frozen foods..

I just recently started using convicts as feeders, started out as dither fish for my larger female Hoplarchus, but they had one spawn and she caught on to them... They are extremely good parents but not when there only 3in each and my parrot was hungry... She took down the spawn in a matter of seconds then found the time to chase the female around and nip her fins down. If you plan on using them for feeders only use them in where deco is low... I have a single cave, a few fake plants and a flower pot. The fry stand no chance.

All my fish in my main tank LOVE convicts as dinner! Only I grow them out so they get a worthwhile meal... Convicts are a great healthy food as they will be disease free(if you keep disease free tanks) and you can feed them healthy so when eaten, they will be healthy for your other fish. So much better than comets. But ya, your rams might have some problem catching them. My fish only catch them because I throw in 50 at a time at sub adult size so by the chances of probability, they eat lol.

BTW, whomever thinks it's unethical to feed live foods, go to your PETA meeting and leave us naturalists alone. Convicts are eaten ALL THE TIME in nature.

ahahhahahahahhahahahhaahhahahahah I love it.

I have heard lots of things about convicts as feeders. Are you sure your rams can eat a whole convict spawn? Convicts pump out a lot of fry.

I used to feed my Convict fry to my Oscar, he loved em. My Blood Parrots eat them also.

You know the rules of the wild. Eat and be eaten.
