Convict fry update!

[these little guys have really taken off in the growth department, lol, most have nearly doubled in size, and now have their black stripes visable, even caught the two biggest liplocking yesterday, LOL!

they eat like crazy, thanks to the father to spits food into the middle of their "cloud"

and kicks up any uneaten food, while the fry swarm under him, lol..well..both parents do this

some macro shots of the fry, look at the full bellys, and their patterns are developing nicely

the mom was hiding out most of the time, but she came out once and i snapped a shot, not the best though

how fast do the fry grow? I am currently using fancy guppies as feeders, but they just aren't growing fast enough to make it worthwhile. (or producing enough fry) My females only birth about 10 each time. I am thinking of taking down my feeder tank.

these little ones are growing pretty fast, last week they were barely visable from 5 feet away, now you can see them from 10 feet away, lol

all depends on how much their fed, and water quality

Yeah... my guppies have become feeders too, only I want them small because I'm feeding Kribs.

Right now I actually have about 15 Firemouth fry which are going to the petstore next week.

most people use cons as feeders, but they are one of my favoite amercan cichlids, so i cant see myself feeding them to my o's and jags and dempseys..and gt's..

i'm giving about 30 to a local lfs for 4 small peacock bass, for my 250gal im getting for xmas

the rest are going to a different lfs for money

Wow on time my female had over 100 fry at once...Had to setup another tank!

the fry look great and i hope all of them grow up (unles you are using them as feeders; in that case, i hope your fish like them )
