convict tankmates?

Senegals will max out at around 10-12 inches, and they are just being grown out in the 29 as they are only about 4 inches right now. The sun cat is not the same you are talking about, this one should get around 8 inches. I am moving the big guys to a 90 this summer. The convicts don't bother anyone except each other. BTW, the tank has been up and running for about 3 years, never a problem.

ok since the convict is going after the frogs she is taking it out, would it live with my guppies, platties, and dwarf gourami or will it have to go back to the solitary confinement?

No, it will not set along with those fish at all, with the exception of MAYBE the gourami.

How big is the tank he will "go back to the solitary confinement" in?

If by solitary confinement you mean the goldfish bowl, Id insist on giving to to the LFS. If you have at least a 20g tank to put him in, he/she will be fine.
I have housed my breeding pair in a 20g for over a year with great success and many fry as testimony. Mine are less than 2" in length.
