I thought I had pink convicts and then bought a striped convict female. The pink convicts turned out to be jellybean parrot fish. They have been breeding but usually eat everything. this time daddy has taken over and they are still alive. I don't know what to do with them all?? Any suggestions? I know in advance this will ruffle some feathers (or scales) in the fish lover community, so if you wish to jump down my throat please don't reply. It's not their fault they are hybrids, and I didn't realize they weren't convicts untill much later. If you have a "helpfull" answer I would appreciate your opinions. Thank you!

I don't see why you'd treat them any differently then other fish...Unless you re the type who feels hybrids need to be destroyed because they are morally wrong.
I guess it comes down to how you feel about these hybrids. It's not like other people won't buy them.

Some people freak out bc they are hybrids crossing with convict. I already have them and don't really care if people don't like them.
I just don't know what to do with them all. I only have a 55 gal tank with three jellybeans and a convict female. I had two other smaller jelly beans (all part of the same batch of "mystery" fry I bought at walmart) that I had to move to a ten gal bc they were getting beat up. I wanted some more in the 55 gal but not 100+ more. Do people normally sell them or give them away? lfs won't take them.

I know they breed like rabbits! They just usually eat them all. Mom and dad are now filling for divorce and probably a restraining order due to domestic violence :) Now dad has all the babies and mom is shacking up with "forrest gump" my other jellybean. Forrest is frantically building a new love shack! I am currious to see what the babies look like grown up. Anyone want some?

yea don't sell them either destory them (feed them tot other fish) or grow them up in another tank. don't give or sell it encourages this

i disagree - you could certainly sell them, as long as you are clear that they are jellybean/con hybrids. the problem with hybrids in the market is what happened to you originally - buying the jellybeans with the assumption/misinformation that they were pink cons. however, i don't know what kind of market there is for your fish. you may just have to sell the whole lot for cheap as feeders just to be rid of them. whatever you choose, you may want to return the female or put her in a separate tank so you don't have to deal with this every month.

Well this can be sovled by one simple question.
Do you have oscars or mean cichlids?
