If you put convicts in a tank with an already established school of blackskirt tetras or something with an equal temperament, what do you think would happen? Are convicts really as aggressive as people say to all fish or are they just aggressive because they're always placed with aggressive fish twice their size? Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't need a bunch of kids telling me it is awful if they haven't tried it before. I know it's probably not ideal, I'm just wondering if it might work.

I dont think you would have that much of a problem depending on the tank size and. other inhabitants. Black skirts get good sized so I dont think the convict would have that much of an issue with them esspeicaly if it is raised with them. Convicts ar'nt all that aggesive unless you have a breeding pair. As with any fish there are personality diffrences though so just be aware that it is possible for you to get a real nasty one that would torment any thing in the tank. Mine is 2 years old and in my 90 gallon. When my "centerpiece" fish my Carpinte died earlier this year I bought a J.D. and Jaguar to put in there and they are both little juvies and the convict had on problem with them. I also have 5 giant danio's as dither fish in the tank and the convict doesnt bother them at all either.
