Well after considering tons of kinds of fish, i have decided that being a college student, i can not really afford a huge tank for some of the fish i want, and think that I am going to stick with my 55. My main question is that I think I am just going to set up caves at either end of my tank and have 2 pairs of cons in the tank... should this be okay??

I would think one male would get the upper hand as they grew and started breeding. Perhaps someone has been successful. You never know. I once saw, and would hardly believe it otherwise, a 55 with a breeding pair of manaquense. a large oscar, a pike cichlid and a couple of africans and a pleco. The oscar was powerful enough to stand off the pair in half the tank and all the other fish hung out on the oscar's side. College students-everything but the kitchen sink. Congrats on showing a bit more forethought than the guys with this tank.;)
