Had a pair of convicts in a 10 gal. that bred and had fry. I moved them after a month or so into a 29 gal. The fry are about 3 months old now and are very discernable as being convicts. The thing is, the parents haven't bred again. Her side has turned pinkish a time or two but no breeding. They have shelter to breed in. They are my first convicts so I don't know whats normal and what not but I heard they are prolific but only one brood in 5 months seems odd. Whats up with this? Is it right? Do I need to move the fry to the 10 gal. as a grow out tank? I was gonna put a pair of Kribs in the 10 bu I may wait if need be.

i would definiterly take out the fry if they are still in the same tank as the parents. my brother has a 55g woith convicts in it but its has some firemouths and a blue acara too but hes had them for like 6 months and they bred like a month after he bought em them they didnt breeed for like 3 more months but then they breed again, so in like the last 6 months theyt have bred a total of six (6) times.
my blue acaras on the other hand will breed as soon as i take out all the fry. normally every 2 weeks approx.

I did notice once that the females belly got a little orangish ,I think, and the male would chase her around and nip at her. Thought they were gonna hook up again but they didn't. I think he was ready but she wasn't due to the fry still being there.
