125 gallon tank.
The current tanks occupants are as follows:
6 Giant Danios
3 Yoyo loaches
1 Angel fish

How would Convicts do with them. I understand that Convicts are very aggressive; however, I am hoping that, with all that room, they will just stake out their territory and guard that. I am inexperienced with Cichlids so any advice would be great.

Thank you AC,
Caleb

You need to look at the big picture on what you want to do with the tank

Central American or South American or a mixture of the two.

Do you want a few bigger cichlids or more small to medium.

A nice standard SA theme is Angels, Severums, Oscar, Chocolate, Bolivian Rams, Blue Acara, etc, along with Numerous Tetras and Cory Catfish. SA IME is easier to get a good mix that is active, interactive, and not too agressive.

CA is harder to get that perfect mix as they are more aggressive and territorial. Convict types, Firemouth types, Jack Dempsey, Nicaraguensis, Salvini, Rainbow, etc.

Then you have the big heavy hitters like Red Devil, Green Terror, Red terror, Viejas, jaguar types, etc. You just never know with these guys.

And if you get a pair and they spawn, that changes things too.

So yes Cons will work with your current stock. The tank is big enough and the Angel will learn to stay away from the spawning Cons.

Well I'll be on my way to the fish store here in a few. Thank you for the help, MonteSS. I'll just see what they have available. I live in a rural area, so the local fish stores are rather small. Hopefully I can come up with something.

In my opinion it depends on the size of the Angel, also how aggressive the Convict is. I typically wouldn't recommend putting them together. If the angel starts to get picked on you will want to have a back up plan. If you are mixing south and central American Cichlids be careful and get them all around the same size and similar aggression.

Well the angel fish is about 2 years old. I just added 3 convicts and a firemouth, at least I'm pretty sure. I will post some pics latter when I can get some taken. Since the angel is full grown, he is doing a good job holding his own against the juveniles, so far. When they get bigger, who knows. I guess only time will tell.

Thanks for the input Mostlycichlids. If worse comes to worst, I will have to rehome the angel to another tank.
