****..hes dead he wasnt sick and he didnt seem stressed and he had the whole tank to him self. my water params were even perfect. how can i prevent this?

Did you happen to notice any physical abnormalties after he died?

As far as preventing it again, maybe attach something permanently so no future fish can get caught in there?

he didnt have any wounds on him or anything. a little bit of his tail was a little bit messed up, but not much. the filter has a cover on it with holes, but the fish still got sucked in. what can i use to cover up the hole, without messing up my filteration?

hose is often used to keep fry from getting sucked in, maybe that'll help?
