How did you decide which unit to buy?
I did a little research and asked a few people. I know alot of people (a few local reefers too)who got the exact same RO/DI I did and from the same site too.

Yup, very nice RO/DI unit. If I can, I'd suggest you get one of these sediment prefilters (top of page) to replace the one that comes with your unit. One of these will greatly increase carbon block life and membrane life. Not to mention that it is small enough to filter out the smallest of bacteria. Everything else is golden, though.

Yay, no rogue post editing :D

Thanks!! I'll get that filter when I need to change the stock filters. lol

Dont forget to run the first 50 gallons through the unit and discard it. It ensures it is all cleaned out and ready to go.

I just read your entire thread and your tank has shown some awesome progress. I am starting to redo my 10 Nano after I let it go for a while during the summer because of work and school. Keep up the good work.

Wasting that much water is entirely unnecessary to rinse the membrane. First, you should rinse your carbon blocks--just disconnect the membrane influent hose and allow the water to run clear for several minutes. Next, go ahead and flip the DI bypass valve and reconnect the hose to the membrane. This will allow the preservative-filled water from the membrane to pass freely without going through your DI resin (which will extend its useful life--the more the better). You only need to rinse the membrane for about 20 minutes or so or until you have made about 2-4 gallons of pure product water. Once you have rinsed it, you can turn off the bypass/RO-only line and start running water through your DI resin and into your collection reservoir.
