hi, i have a 100g freshwater tank run with two external ehiems,2028 2229
i was thinking of using these ,plus tunze 6080 for water movement, 250g skimmer,
and having a coral only tank....or with one or two small fish later on,
could be a good system????
thx

The problem will be that corals need an established tank to really thrive. What I would do is cycle the tank really well, add top notch live rock, and then sit back and feed the tank lightly for a month or two, then start adding corals, with hardier ones going in first. If you do want fish, adding them first will be a good thing. I'd also either run the filters with no media, or ditch them completely in favor of powerheads for water movement. You'll also need to consider your lighting--IMO, metal hallide are your best bet.

tunze 6080 for water movement,
would i still need to add more power for movement ?

i was hoping to use the externals ,as have no sump,
so dump the cans, and just use liverock as the fliter and of corase skimmer to get rid of the crap

would there be much crap if its just corals ??

There will still be wastes--corals are animals, and they do produce waste. You'll still have to feed the tank, as well.

I prefer to use several sources for water movement. A single pump is going to be hard pressed to get adequate movement throughout the entire tank without creating too much in some locations. I like having one powerhead about every 18 inches--with the option to add more if needed. It's not just about how fast the water is moving, it's about where all the water is moving, too.
