coral propagation tank

i was talking to my friend at a local fish store and started talking about starting my own propagation tank for coral just a ten gal with a couple of plastic racks and pvc pipe stands, live rock, bunch of snails and hermit crabs maybe a goby, and a varity of coral of course. the water would be from my 120 gal and the coral would go in my bigger tank a soon as theres enough of it. Any advice would be good
