photosynthetic means they get some or all of there energy from the sun/ aquarium lighting. i keep loads of corals under 400 watt pc lighting and they do great

I keep softies and lps under 2x20w T8s and 1x55w T5 Powercompact with no problems, here is a link to how my corals are doing under these lights:
