Coralife HOB Super Skimmer 65G

Model 65's should come with the valve. The other models 125 and 220 do not. There was a batch of the new revisions that did not have the valve. You can contact Coralife Customer Service and get a replacement sent to you. 888 255 4527 M-F 7 am to 4 pm CST.

PS. I work in R&D for Coralife and helped design the revisions to the SuperSkimmers. At first we weren't going to include the valve any longer (it is not necessary once the skimmer breaks in) but decided to tool a new one and include it. This is in all currently shipping units now. Older units that used the Rio pump had a valve included as well.

Thanks for the pics! Where does this tube go? I don't have anything connected to that.
 
Nothing should go there. It is just a vent to prevent a siphon from forming in the outlet pipe.
 
Sometimes some water spills out of the hole. So, I connected a piece of tubing that just hangs there. It is not submerged in water, just hanging there.
 
Do I actually need to remove the skimmate? Right now I just have it draining back into the tank because otherwise I wouldn't be able to leave it unattended, and it will fill a bucket in no time. Plus I don't want to waste gallons and gallons of RODI saltwater.

It's been 4 days now with no change :help:
 
i have that same skimmer..mine is doing the same thing..i was told that it was because i used meds and red slime remover at one time...i was told that after enough water changes it will eventually start working like it should...
 
I did dechlorinate the water. But that's it, no meds or anything like that at all.
 
That could be the answer... how did you use it? When I add de-chlorinator I put in 1ml worth of Seachem Alpha in 20G of RO/DI water and let aerate for 24 hours before I add salt to mix the water. One "no no" is to put de-chlorinator directly into SW. It isn't the worst thing you can do and it shouldn't really harm your tank as long as you don't overdose, but it does make the skimmer go crazy.
