Right now I am battling diatomic "brown" algae. Yet I want all my LR covered is coralline algae. For me to accomplish this, I would need to increase the Ca concentration. Would increasing the Ca concentration any effect (i.e. accelerate) the diatomic algae growth.

I think diatom algae feeds on nitrates and waste products. Coraline algae is built on calcium, magnesium, strontium and other minerals. I don't see the relation betwen the two. I'm trying to grow coralline algae too and found a good website, although I forgot to bookmark it. It explains how to grow coraline algae ,and maintaining high calcium, 400 to 500mg/l is a key.
