sorry to hear about the cories! sometimes these things happen no matter what we do to treat their ailments.
don't give up on fishkeeping! keep the betta for now, since it sounds like she's still in good health, although she may still come down with ich. she'll be fine by herself in the tank.
as for the dying cory. take a tupperware container, fill it about half full of water, and put it in the freezer until an ice crust forms. punch a hole in the ice crust and drop the cory in, put a lid on the container and put it back in the freezer for a little while. this isn't the most acceptable way of euthanizing a fish (using clove oil is the best way), but it will mean he doesn't suffer any more.
