Cories with short barbel, Nitrate sensitivity

I'd leave them, let them do their job for the plants. I'm pretty sure it was API tabs that are the ones I don't like. Nothing else had changed in the tank and I've had cories in there fine for years. I've even gone and bought some more jungle tabs for my crypts. Just haven't put them in yet, been just using seachem liquids.

OK... thank you... I'll do that. (and make sure they're well burried for future uses).

Terror, any update?

We are in the same boat as you and closely watching this thread to get the clue of our problem. :)

We have 3 tanks with corys and one of the tank has the same problem. Whenever, we add corys in the tank, corys start losing their barbel in couple of months. Corys in the other tanks are just fine. We has been cleaned and changed water in the problematic tank 2x more than other tanks. Parameter from the problematic tank is surely very good. (0,0,5) I have no clue.

Hi,

Still unable to selve my cory deaths :( I've lost almost whole batch of rabauti, they seem to be more sensitive. Also lost some adolfois which are really small.

but i noticed it might be due to bare glass buttom collecting bacteria. i have some aquaclay in my tank, but will be moving some cories out to their own 15 gal tank with fine sand.

thanks:)

Would you consider adding sand rather than gravel? I have noticed a large difference in preventing barbel erosion since I switched to sand. Also, I find it so much easier to clean!

I have no prob w/my corys, but my g-f had 2 that had that prob. They had finrot and pop-eye and were treated with Melafix. She lost 1, but the other is fine. The fins are growing back and she is very healthy now. Her barbels are still short though, IDK if they will grow back or not.
