I want to house some fire bellied newts in my 10 gal paludarium actually one for now. maybe another when I upgrade tank size.
first are they toxic to fish?
second are there any cories that you know of that thrive at 70-72 F?

I want to add that my LFS says "oh it's fine to keep cories at 72" but I take everything they say with a grain of salt and a little advice from this forum.

Most cories are actually sub-tropical specimens preferring the cooler side of the temperature. 72 degrees Fahrenheit is fine for most corydoras actually. As for the fire bellied newts, cories will hardly try to bother the newts so you should be fine.

yeah i kept my tropical tank at 72 for the longest time hahaha all my cories did great

yeah I just did a little research and it would seem that the consensus is that 69-70 is the bottom of their temp range.
Now I have never had a tank with no heater. Am i right to assume that because my house stays a very consistent 70-72 that my tank will stay 70-72? There will not be any direct sun on the tank and I will keep the lighting very cool.
I mean I know it won't be above the ambient temperature but will it be a lot cooler than I think?

As long as the temp is consistent then I see no problem with 72 degrees.
