I've read a lot of sources that say the pygmy species of corys are much less "bottom-bound" than their cousins. My corys (aenues, peppered, elegant) stayed at the bottom for 99% of the time. Individual personalities come into play as well.

I would definitely argue that from my experience with the pygmaeus. Low and hidey!
