Cory breeding question

just a tip for breedin corys from my dads friend trevor

have a bear tank with just filter n heater in

have a 3 inch bed of marbblesn

have at least 5 corys

after the corys have layed there eggs the dont eat them (i tink) and when there born the fry hide in the marbles so they last longer

he has a 55g tank long not very deep about 10 inchs with about 30 cories

he said that he started with 5 cories but they bred and in 2 years he now has roughly 30 corys

First off...I am new to fish keeping. I have two cory catfish...one emerald green and one albino. The emerald green is about 4 times bigger than the albino. I noticed today that the albino has a belly full of what appear to be eggs. I have had these two for about a month. Will the albino just have a ton of unfertilized eggs if there is no male albino to spawn? Will she do that often?...produce eggs with no male albino in the tank? If I go get a male will it do the "instant spawn" thing?

Any feedback would be appreciated. The albino is my favorite fish and I'd love it to have babies!

"Emerald Green" is usually a trade name for Brochis splendens, which looks very much like a cory, but larger. Check it's dorsal fin. Corys have a roughly triangular dorsal ... brochis dorsals stretch farther along the back and don't look triangular. If your green fish is a brochis, I'd advise you to find a few more albinos.

Hope that helps
