I just got back from the LFS. I picked up a couple of spotted cories for my 29 gallon tank and couldn't resist picking up an odd looking cory to keep them company. He was in the tank with the bronze cories and the lady at the store said she figured he came in the same shipment with them. He's definitely a cory cat, but he's completely black. His fins are grey and have no markings, but his entire body is black except for his stomach which is white like all the other cories. I wish I had a camera to post a picture. Anyone have any idea what he is?

Sounds like a "common" cory?

Sorry, I'm not much into the latin scientific names...
The LFS lists them as "common cory".
They can range from black top to tan to almost white, but they always have the white bottoms.
My pepper and bandit ones don't have a discernable white tummy.
How much are they?
If they are "cheap" (the common, bronze, and peppers are all under $2 here), I would think they are nothing fancy...?

I'm not a cory expert by a long shot, but have seen some on stock lists as Corydoras sp. Peru "black". I can't say I've actually seen any that are almost totally black before.

I check Planetcatfish, but they didn't have any pictures that I found that matched. He was with a bunch of Bronze cories (or aeneus cories if you prefer) so I thought originally he was a bronze that had a little darker color. After checking though, they didn't have any bronze cories that looked like that. All the pics they had the fish was darker colored down to the lateral line and then light colored from there. This guy is black over his entire body and his fins are kind of greyish.

Don't know why I couldn't find that earlier. That is a perfect picture of the fish.
