cory cat .. something wierd is going on

hmmm, i didn't notice the tank temp. everything i am reading is angels should be kept at at least 80*. otherwise, the lower temp will stress the immune system too much.

i have never used fungus eliminator, so follow directions. what i have used is this, and take my experience please...my angel had a chronic fungus that seemed to go away on its own. but, though it wasn't so visible at the surface anymore it was still eating away at the fin. so much so, that the ventral fin started to sway around in the water at the point of deterioration. once at that point, it was going to break off no matter what. one of the fin extensions was the same way. what i did, though i am not necessarily recommneding it since one med has already been used, was to remove my angel and applied methylene blue directly to the spot, though a net dip is probably better and less risky. i then returned my fish immediately to the tank. no more chronic fungus and, wishing i wrote it down, the fin appears to be growing back (yeah! i didn't think it would).

once the fungus is gone, the fin should regenerate very quickly. i have heard melafix is also good for damaged fins. though not necessary it seems to be a secondary bacterial infection preventative (?) i really should get some b/c myother angel is constantly tearing up this same angels fins, more than ever and it looks awful. more plants would also help my situation, and if i had a tank free, i would separate the two to give the long finned stressed one time to recuperate and grow/catch up in size to the other.

so, though not the same situation, perhaps this may help. continue to do your water changes every other day to daily. make sure the temp is at least 80. if you do add any other meds to the tank, do a 50% water change first. do not add meth blue directly to your tank as it will stain everything and kill off the bacterial colony. rather than doing any of these, you could try a salt treatment...salt is added to the water gradually over time to reach a certain ratio. i can't remember for certain what the best ratio is, so do a search. thre are also varying opinions on what type of salt. i just like to stay safe with noniodized/pickling/kosher salt.
this thread does not show what other fish you have while i am typing so cross reference effects/safetyness for your other fish.

good luck.
