Cory Cat Suitability

Thanks a lot. Do you know any surface plants (other then duckweed) that do not require much light if I want upside down Catfishes?

DarkDH:

I must really be missing something here but what do believe "is the connection" between upside down catfishes and floating plants?

Upside down cats eat, play and hide under the submerged side of plants.
Very entertaining to watch.

Guess the Surface plants aren't needed. Would propping slate onto 2 rocks work? I already have a big rock in my tank which I could use. Shelter + Java Moss/ Fern Growing thingie.

I have a 55 with about 1wpg and my swords are growing like mad. So swords would be a viable plant option. I have sand, not gravel, but I agree with the others. My cories LOVE frozen brine shrimp too. BTW: I don't fert or add CO2 either.

With a 20 gallon, you might try to find Peppered cories (Sometimes called spotted cories). They don't get very large (2 inches or so) so you could keep a nice school in your tank. I got my mine at Petsmart and they've been super happy for 8 months.

As we put it in West Texan "I believe that you are barkin up the wrong tree here".

I have very limited experience with these catfish but:

I have never seen an upside down catfish try to stay afloat underneath floating plants for very long.
Lots of driftwood would be a much better option imo.
I was trying to figure the connection as well...

I have never seen one employing plants for a domicile.

The more holes in the driftwood the better.

I appreciate the comment: As I am old continuing questioning of rationality is prevalent!

OgreMkV's comment concerning Corys may be very appropriate.

My six sterbai are very, very entertaining and easily the hardies fish in my tank.
