Cory Question

In nature cories are a schooling fish, so many people purport that for them to be happy they need to be in schools of 6 or more (per species). If you adhere to that reasoning, you need to go out and get 25 more cory cats.

I am not sure a fish can be happy or sad, but if you note that they seem stressed...it might be because they would feel more secure with several more members of their species. Also, I've read that in order to see true "schooling" behavior, you need to have 6 or more. I've yet to get my numbers that high, but my cats seem happy enough.

UPDATE!!!

Update: The first day was a little touch and go, they were hiding a lot and not swimming too much. The first night and ever since then they have been shooting all over the tank exploring! They are sooo stinkin cute and appear ultra happy. I am still convinced there is going to be some kind of mating between my bandit and skunk. They are constantly chasing one another and they sleep literally on top of one another (at least I think they're sleeping) lol. I guess we'll see what happens with time but I would love some cute little hybrid cories!!!

Commodore, in my last tank I only had 3 and they always schooled and grew really fast and thrived well. While I would LOVE a huge school of corydoras, realistically if I had them in the size schools they would be "happy" in I'd have an overstocked tank just with them. So far so good. They greet me every morning on the side of the tank that is facing my bed, they're eating well and playing a ton. They sometimes take turns knocking the snails off the walls, which while not nice is soooo cute! Sometimes it's about quality over quantity and these guys have it good! Thanks for the concern though:)
