So the lights go on in my tank and I happen to be there in front of it when they do (they're on a timer). One of my cory cats is swimming frantically at the surface. He's swimming so close that his top fin is actually partly out of the water. I have no idea why he's doing this. I've seen them dart to the surface many times, but he's actually swimming around the tank right below the surface of the water. One of my black skirts is looking at him like he's weird. Is this that normal or should I be concerned?

mine do this sometimes too, as long as your water quality is good I wouldn't be concerned (good meaning 0 ammo, 0 trite, less than 20 trate).

One of my albino C. aeneus was swimming upside down:screwy: at the surface for awhile today...looked like it was nibbling on the duckweed...then went back to it's usual "cory-ing". Another I call "sir-pops-a-lot" cuz it seems to spend more time popping to the surface than foraging.

Personailty they got...intelligence...well......???

Well, he seems to have gone back to where he's supposed to be. Kind of anyway. I have some Java Moss that hangs down off a piece of driftwood. The current blows it out horizontally. He's sitting on that now. I guess I forgot how weird these guys are.

Corys will take food from the surface. Sometimes they will turn over so their mouth is facing up to do so. I have tanks with floating plants and have seen a cory come almost out of the water on top of floating plants to snatch a morsel lodged there. It was wierd to stare eye to eye with a cory out of the water :p

I have a ~8" wad of java moss in my 40...they love to lay in it and look absolutely dead.
